Registered Nurse (Med Surg Telemetry) - Travel Position
Location: Farmington, New Mexico
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (7 PM - 7 AM)
Weekly Hours: 36 hours
Weekend Requirement: At least 2 weekend shifts per month recommended
Facility & Unit Overview
- Level II Trauma Center with 43 beds in the Medical Unit
- Patient population: Adults (18 years and older)
- Patient ratios: 1:5 and 1:6
- Common diagnoses: cirrhosis, sepsis, pneumonia, respiratory illnesses, wounds, congestive heart failure (CHF)
- Equipment used: vital signs machine, bladder scanner, IV pumps, thermal imaging, lifts, tube feeding pumps
- Electronic Health Record system: Cerner
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico
- Minimum 1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Additional Information
- Block scheduling may be considered on a case-by-case basis
- Must achieve at least a 3.2 overall rating on the skills checklist
- Float requirements as per facility needs
- No call requirements
- Hiring process includes resume submission, competency exam, skills checklist, and screening questions

Pros
Unit is comprised of many travelers. Core staff and travelers have all been fantastic! The unit is set up quite well to manage the surges of patients. It is the only main hospital around so it can definitely provide good experience. Most of the providers I've encountered over the last couple months actually listen to the nurses and are easy to work with.
Cons
It is definitely busy before the size of the town. I can't say I have any other cons.
