Registered Nurse (RN) - Telemetry

Location

• Alexandria, Louisiana

Employment Type

• Travel contract
• Contract length: 13 weeks

Shift

• Nights, 7 PM – 7 AM
• Every other weekend required for weekend shifts and on-call

Unit and Patient Population

• Cardiac and telemetry patients
• Not a stepdown unit
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 5:1 to 6:1 depending on staffing
• Dress code: Ceil blue scrubs

Job Summary

• Provides routine and complex nursing care independently in a cardiac and telemetry setting
• Manages clinical contingencies and makes appropriate assignments and delegations
• Meets professional nursing competencies and standards of practice
• Addresses psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
• Administers medications and treatments per protocol, monitoring effectiveness and side effects
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
• Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, families, and caregivers

Required Qualifications

Education

• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Experience

• Minimum 1 year of telemetry experience within the last year

Licenses and Certifications

• Valid RN license in Louisiana
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association

Orientation and Competency

• Newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within 30 days of hire
• New hires receive preceptorship by trained staff with competency validations, including MedSurg-specific validation
• Newly licensed RNs may participate in a residency or specific orientation program
• Completion of annual competency verification is required
