Registered Nurse (RN) - Critical Care Unit (CCU)

Location: Santa Fe, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel
Shift: Nights, 7 PM – 7 AM
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

The Registered Nurse coordinates and implements patient care tailored to the patient population on the assigned unit. Ensures quality, efficient, and safe care consistent with unit standards. Demonstrates professionalism, respect, and effective communication with staff, physicians, patients, and families.


Responsibilities

  • Perform initial patient assessments and prioritize care based on age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs.
  • Systematically re-assess patients to monitor progress and identify needs for intervention.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care within established nursing standards.
  • Make comprehensive nursing decisions and modify care plans based on patient outcomes.
  • Participate in patient and family health education and discharge planning.
  • Perform and document timely interventions and Point of Care testing procedures.
  • Delegate and coordinate unit work assignments to ensure completion of patient care support activities.
  • Participate in orientation of new staff and students; serve as a resource to visitors, physicians, and staff.
  • Promote a positive work environment and collaborate to achieve unit and organizational goals.
  • Exhibit behaviors that foster patient satisfaction, respect patient rights and confidentiality, and support hospital mission and continuous improvement.
  • Adapt to changes in work environment or schedule with flexibility and maintain a positive attitude during stress.
  • Comply with all policies related to patient and environmental safety, attendance, and professional conduct.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in New Mexico
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in Coronary Care Unit (CCU)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) Certification
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) Certification issued by the American Heart Association

Skills

  • Knowledge and skills appropriate to the age and type of patient population served.
  • Sensitivity to patients’ rights in care delivery.
  • Clear and concise communication tailored to the developmental age of patients.

Work Schedule

  • Full-time, night shift from 7 PM to 7 AM.

Additional Information

  • Immediate start date (ASAP).
  • This is a backfill position.
