Registered Nurse (RN) - Emergency Department

Location

Alexandria, Louisiana

Employment Type

Travel contract
Contract length: 13 weeks

Work Schedule

Night shift: 7 PM – 7 AM
Full-time
Every other weekend required
No on-call
No floating between units

Unit and Patient Population

Very high acuity unit
Patient cases include strokes, cardiovascular issues, diabetes, wounds, behavioral health, sepsis, and some trauma (not a trauma-designated unit)
Security onsite 24/7

Nurse-to-Patient Ratio

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience within the last year

Licenses & Certifications

Valid RN license in Louisiana
BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association
CPI Blue Card

Job Responsibilities

Provide routine and complex nursing care independently in a high-acuity setting
Utilize nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation
Manage psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
Administer medications and treatments per protocol; monitor side effects and effectiveness
Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers
Make appropriate assignments and delegate tasks to other care providers
Demonstrate leadership consistent with professional nursing standards and organizational competencies
