Unit Information

• Unit: Pediatric Unit at a Children's Hospital
• Number of Beds: 38
• Number of Staff: 15
• Shift Staffing:

  • Day Shift: 1 Charge RN, up to 10 RNs, up to 3 Patient Care Technicians (PCT)
  • Night Shift: 1 Charge RN, up to 10 RNs, up to 3 PCT
• Patient Ratios: 1 RN to 4 patients
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System: Meditech

Typical Procedures Performed

• Respiratory Care
• Central Line Care
• G-Tube / NG Tube Management
• Drain Care
• Preoperative and Postoperative Care

Certifications & Licenses Required

• Valid Texas RN License
• BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) Certification

Preferred Certifications

• APHON Chemotherapy Certification (preferred but not required)

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of experience in Pediatric nursing

Floating Areas

• Pediatric Medical/Surgical Floor
• Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
• Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
• Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU)
• Pediatric Oncology

Work Schedule & Dress Code

• 4 weekend shifts required
• Scrub color: Royal blue

Additional Notes

• Candidates without the required certifications (BLS, PALS, Texas RN license) will not be considered.
• No indication that prior travel experience is required for this position.
