Job Opportunity: Certified Surgical Technologist / Operating Room Technician (CST/ORT)
Location: Anchorage, Alaska
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit Information
- Unit: Operating Room
- Number of OR Beds: 11
- Shift: Three twelve-hour shifts, weekdays (weekends if possible)
- Call Expectation: Approximately 5-6 weekday shifts and 1 weekend shift per 8-week period
- Staffing:
- Day Shift: ~8 RNs, 8 Scrub Techs, 5 Surgical Support Techs
- Night Shift: 1 Charge RN and 1 Scrub Tech in-house with call team backup
- Patient Ratios: 1:1
- Equipment: Variety of OR beds and equipment
- EMR System: Epic
Experience & Skills Required
- Must Have:
- Certified Surgical Technologist First Assistant (CSTFA) certification through NBSTSA
- Experience as a patient advocate circulator and resource for the sterile field
- Preferred:
- Vein Harvesting experience
- Experience as circulator and scrub tech
- Typical Procedures:
- Total joint replacements
- Multi-level spine fusions
- Xi Robotic cases (Gynecology, Colorectal, General Surgery)
- Minimal ENT, dental, eye, or plastic surgery cases
Certifications Required
- Current CST and CSTFA through NBSTSA
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- OR First Assist Certification
Work Environment & Culture
- Positive outlook and willingness to collaborate with team members is essential
- Scrubs provided by the facility
This position is ideal for CST/ORT professionals with orthopedic, neuro, spine, and robotic surgery experience looking for a travel assignment in a well-equipped operating room setting.
