Location: Thornton, Colorado

Unit Information

  • Unit Size: 6 beds
  • Staffing: 15 staff members
  • Shift Staffing:
    • Day Shift: 2 NICU RNs and 1 Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) on site 24/7
    • Night Shift: 2 NICU RNs and 1 NNP on site 24/7
    • Neonatologists on call 24/7
  • Patient Ratios:
    • 3:1 for feeder growers
    • 1:1 for vented babies
  • Equipment:
    • Giraffe Omnibeds
    • STAR GE resuscitation for transport
    • Giraffe with Shuttle transport
  • Electronic Medical Records (EMR): CPN and Meditech

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years NICU experience (Level 2 NICU experience required)
  • Skills:
    • Admissions and initial stabilization experience in the delivery room
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • Licenses: Registered Nurse License

Preferred Qualifications

  • Level 3 and/or Level 4 NICU experience
  • Experience with Eat Sleep Console for babies with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome

Typical Procedures Performed

  • Assisting NNP with:
    • Umbilical line placement
    • Intubation assist
    • Lumbar puncture assist
    • Circumcision
  • No surgical procedures
