Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) - Long Term Care (Days)

Job Description
- Screen, evaluate, and rehabilitate patients with communication, cognitive, or swallowing disorders.
- Develop and implement appropriate plans of care following regulatory and clinical practice standards.
- Utilize standardized assessments and evidence-based practices to support clinical interventions.
- Assess patient progress and adjust treatments accordingly, documenting in clinical records per regulatory requirements.
- Evaluate treatment outcomes and modify services as needed; make referrals based on outcomes.
- Provide consultation and counseling to patients, families, caregivers, and other service providers regarding speech disorders.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and healthcare team members about patient progress, barriers, and treatment plans.
- Prepare comprehensive discharge summaries per regulatory and clinical requirements.
- Document all required information accurately in electronic systems and maintain patient records according to policy.
- Record treatment minutes in compliance with regulatory and clinical standards.
- Participate in required meetings such as patient care conferences, utilization reviews, and rehabilitation meetings.
- Attend facility and company-required trainings, in-services, and conferences.
- Obtain necessary durable medical equipment (DME) or supplies as required.
- Supervise and support Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) or student Speech-Language Pathologists.
- Adhere to ASHA and state practice acts, codes of conduct, and ethics during professional practice.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of Speech-Language Pathology experience (New graduates accepted if Level II experience, not just Level I observation).
- Experience in Long Term Care (LTC) or Rehabilitation settings is required.
- Active Missouri State License for Speech-Language Pathology.
- Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA is required.
- Preferred: 3 years experience holding active Clinical Competence Specialist (CCS) certification.
- Ability to supervise and support CFY or student SLPs.
Additional Information
- Typical treatment times for SLP are approximately 30 minutes per session.
- Caseload may range from 10-14 patients per day depending on evaluation load.
- Group therapy is allowed and may be used to enhance productivity.
- Therapists typically have dedicated devices for documentation.
- Productivity expectations: 88-90% for evaluating therapists.
- Work schedule includes 8-hour shifts during the day.
