Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) – Long Term Care (Days)
Location: Sandusky, Michigan
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days (8 hours per day)
Job Summary
- Lead and direct the delivery of speech language pathology services in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations and facility policies.
- Provide appropriate care and services to long-term care residents.
- Maintain confidentiality of protected health information in all forms.
- Report any noncompliance, abuse, neglect, or mistreatment of residents to appropriate personnel.
- Follow infection control policies and participate in emergency plan implementation.
- Communicate effectively with medical, nursing staff, and other departments.
- Accept call-backs during emergency conditions.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Speech Language Pathologist license in Michigan.
- Minimum of 1 year of Speech Language Pathologist experience within the last year.
- Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Candidate Considerations
- First-time travelers and local candidates will be considered.
- Must be willing to complete medical and fingerprinting within 24-48 hours if offered the position.
- Candidates seeking more than 7 days off or more than 50% of holidays off, or with negative background/employment history, may not be eligible for expedited processing.
- Sandusky, MI is a very rural area with limited housing and public transportation options; candidates should plan accordingly.

- Ability to interact tactfully with residents, families, staff, and external agencies.
- Patience and willingness to work with difficult residents and situations.
- Ability to assist in resident evacuation during emergencies.
- Ability to make independent decisions when necessary.
Additional Information
- Electronic Medical Record system used: PointClickCare (PCC).
- Orientation hours are nonbillable.
- The facility reserves the right to cancel up to 3 shifts per 13-week contract.
