Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)

Required Qualifications

• Valid Physical Therapy Assistant license in Texas
• Physical Therapy Assistant (1 year of experience)
• Physical Therapy Assistant experience within the last year
• Experience in a Long Term Care or Rehabilitation setting

Responsibilities

• Provides rehabilitative, skilled, and medically necessary treatment under the supervision and direction of a Physical Therapist
• Uses evidence-based practice and administers rehabilitation procedures such as manual techniques, ambulation, therapeutic exercises, modalities, and supportive or assistive devices
• Assesses patient progress, communicates with the supervising Physical Therapist, and reports treatment effectiveness
• Provides consultation and counseling to patients, families, caregivers, and other service providers
• Communicates with the care team regarding patient progress, barriers, and treatment plans
• Contributes to discharge summaries and required documentation in the electronic documentation system
• Records treatment minutes and participates in required meetings, trainings, in-services, and conferences
• Helps obtain necessary DME or supplies and may supervise and support students under the guidance of the Physical Therapist
