Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse
Location: Aurora, Colorado
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 12-hour shifts starting at 10:45 AM, with occasional float shifts starting at 8:45 AM and 6:45 AM
- Weekend Requirements: Yes, as needed per unit
- On-Call Requirements: No
- Unit: Operating Room (41 ORs), Level 1 Trauma Center
- Float Requirements: Yes, may float to other Operating Rooms within the system
- Patient Ratio: 1:1
- Types of Cases: General, GU/GYN, Neuro, ENT, Plastic Surgery
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Colorado
- Minimum 3 years of Operating Room experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience working with Level 1 or Level 2 trauma patients
- At least 2 years of robotic surgery scrub experience
- General OR experience including GU/GYN, Neuro, ENT, and Plastic Surgery cases
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Trauma experience
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Valid Colorado OR Compact RN License
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Additional Required Certifications (may be required depending on unit)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM)
- Other specialty certifications as applicable
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including 7-year history, education verification, and various federal/state screenings
- Drug testing within 30 days of start and annually thereafter
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, DO, NP, or PA
- Immunizations and titers: TDAP, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu seasonal vaccination (or exemption)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Fit mask test within 12 months and updated annually (specific mask types required)
- Color blindness testing (Ishihara exam) prior to start
- COVID vaccination proof or signed declination
Competency Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (updated annually)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (updated annually for ICU/ER/Neuro units)
- Core Part I, II, III competency exams (updated annually)
- OSHA mandatory training (updated annually)
Employment History & References
- Verification of last 3 years of employment required
- 2 professional references from the last 2 years, including one from the last year, preferably from a Charge RN, Manager, or Supervisor
- Explanation required for any employment gaps over 30 days
Notes
- Time off restrictions apply during certain holiday periods (e.g., late December to early January, mid-March, and May) with a maximum of 10 return-to-office days approved
- Flexibility may be considered for harder-to-fill positions
This position is ideal for experienced OR Registered Nurses with trauma and robotic surgery experience who are comfortable working in a fast-paced Level 1 trauma center environment and have prior travel contract experience.
