Job Opportunity: Oncology Clinic Registered Nurse

Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Provide nursing care focused on breast medical oncology.
  • Role involves approximately 90% telephone triage and 10% in-clinic support of the provider.
  • Work schedule: Day shift, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (8 hours/day, 40 hours/week).

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin.
  • Minimum of 1 year of oncology experience, with oncology experience within the last year required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) certification.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Compliance and Credentialing Requirements

  • Background check within 90 days prior to start, including all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years.
  • Monthly monitoring through workforce monitoring systems for EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks.
  • Education verification as applicable to nursing profession.
  • Wisconsin BID Form and Caregiver Screening required prior to start.
  • Drug screening required per standard clinical candidate protocols.
  • Physical exam must be current within 1 year (Aya standard).
  • Immunization and health document requirements include:
    • Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (annual requirement during flu season).
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series or declination form if declining.
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers, with medical/religious exemptions accepted.
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer, with exemptions accepted.
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray with TB questionnaire annually.
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination proof (adult Tdap required).
    • Meningococcal vaccine or declination if working in specific departments (if applicable).

Testing and Competency Requirements

  • Pass/Fail Telemetry Testing (EKG/Medication) as applicable, with strict deadlines and remediation process.
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
  • Orientation Safety Manual acknowledgment required annually.
  • Additional facility-specific competency exams and certifications may be required based on unit assignment.

Additional Notes

  • Photo for badge must be a passport-style photo meeting specific criteria (no selfies, solid background, no headwear except for religious/medical reasons).
  • Several facility-specific forms related to communicable diseases, flu exemptions, and vaccine waivers must be completed and approved as applicable.
  • References: Two clinical references within the last 3 years required (Aya standard).
  • Employment application and annual skills checklist required.
