Job Opportunity: Surgical Services - Travel/Contract
Location: Atlanta, Georgia
Facility: Hospital in Atlanta (Travel/Contract)
Position Overview
- Specialty: Surgical Services
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 26 weeks (approximately 6 months)
- Schedule: Day shifts
- Weekend Requirement: Only during call (1 weekend every ~4 weeks)
- Call: 1 day per week plus 1 weekend every ~4 weeks (subject to change)
- Floating: Within facility and to Main OR as needed
- Minimum Experience: 5 years preferred; 3 years considered (first-time travelers accepted)
- Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
- Holidays: No holiday RTO accepted
- Privileging Process: Required prior to start (~120 days/3 months) with a $125 application fee
- Compliance: Full compliance required to start on time; delays cause 2-week pushback due to orientation schedule
- Orientation: Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 19 hours for 19-week assignment)
Required Experience & Certifications
Must have:
- Cardiac, Vascular, Endovascular, Thoracic experience
- CSFA, NBSTSA, or NCCSA certification
Certifications (as applicable):
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
- State License (Georgia)
- NURSYS Verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP)
- NIH Stroke Certification (if applicable)
Competency Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (for RNs and LVNs)
- Color Blind Testing (all candidates)
- Competency Exam (Nursing and Allied)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (strict 3-attempt limit)
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Physical Exam (within 1 year of start)
- Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray (PPD, QGold, or TSpot within 12 months)
- TB Questionnaire (updated annually)
- Immunizations:
- Rubeola (Measles) - 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
- Mumps - 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
- Rubella - 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
- Hepatitis B Series or Surface Antibody Titer (declination form if negative)
- Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (highly recommended for privileging specialties)
- Drug Testing: Negative 10 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days of start (no pending results allowed)
- Flu Seasonal Vaccination or Declination (required for 2025-26 season)
Background & History Checks
- Background Check within 30 days of start (including criminal, sex offender, education verification)
- References: 2 clinical references required
- Skills Checklist: Updated within 12 months
- Transcript/Diploma: Required for RRTs
- Work History Verification: Verification of most recent employer required (can be pending with proof)
- Education Verification: Required, can be pending with proof (due within 30 days post start)
Additional Notes
- Privileging candidates must complete additional compliance checklists and may have vaccine declination options for Tdap/TD and Hepatitis B.
- Floating within the facility and to Main OR as needed.
- Locals accepted at the same rate.
- Clinical screening required to determine fit before final manager decision.
This position is ideal for experienced surgical services professionals with the required certifications and willingness to complete a privileging process prior to starting.
