Job Opportunity: Stepdown Cardiac Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Stafford, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)

Job Description

• Provide care in a stepdown cardiac unit
• Manage cardiac telemetry, dysrhythmias, central and peripheral lines
• Administer cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Weekend shifts required: 6-7 per contract
• Floating within scope may be required to meet facility needs
• First-time travel nurses accepted
• Locals accepted
• Block scheduling and return-to-office restrictions are at manager’s discretion

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Cardiac Stepdown nursing
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Experience with cardiac telemetry and management of dysrhythmias
• Proficient in administering cardiac and vasoactive drips

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Valid Virginia Driver’s License (copy front and back)
• Background check including lifetime criminal and education verification (within 1 year prior to start)
• Drug screening within 30 days prior to start (specific panels required)
• Physical exam within 1 year prior to start
• Fit mask (N95) testing and documentation, updated annually
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
• Immunization or immunity documentation for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (vaccination series or declination)
  • Varicella
• Flu vaccination documentation during flu season (9/1 - 3/31) or approved medical/religious exemption
• COVID vaccination documentation or declination
• Education verification of highest degree
• NURSYS license verification for RN
• References: Two required, one from current year and one within last two years, from supervisors or equivalent
• Employment application and work history verification (minimum 2 years)
• Skills checklist for clinical candidates
• Facility-specific documents including code of conduct, confidentiality agreement, orientation packet, and Epic experience screening form
• Completion of required WorkRamp orientation modules within one week of signing (approx. 8 hours)

• The position requires working night shifts with a guaranteed minimum number of weekend shifts
• The hospital uses navy blue and white scrubs
