Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract

Location: Metairie, Louisiana

Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (4 shifts of 12 hours each, 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM)
Hours per Week: 48 (facility open to 36/48 rotating schedule)

Job Description

• Work in Level 3 Nursery with Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) responsibilities.
• Must be able to attend C-Sections.
• Responsible for patient transports within the hospital.
• Schedule includes every other weekend, no on-call, and 2 Fridays off in a 4-week period.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Louisiana.
• Minimum of 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year.
• Current certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• Ability to attend C-sections.

Experience

• Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics.
• Minimum years of experience: Not explicitly stated, but Level 3 Nursery experience is mandatory.

Work Environment & Schedule

• Drug screening within 30 days of start (10-panel or expanded panel depending on hire date).
• Employment application with 7 years of work history, no gaps over 30 days.
• Skills checklist within 12 months of start, updated annually.
• Competency exams (Medication/Pharmacology, Core Parts I-III) required annually.
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam not required for NICU specialty.
• Employee appearance policy acknowledgment.

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 12 months of start (not required by facility but required by placement agency).
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declinations accepted with proper documentation).
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray per current guidelines.
• Annual TB questionnaire.
• Proof of immunity or vaccination for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B (series, titer, or declination)
• Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31) with exemptions and declinations accepted.
• Mask required at all times for unvaccinated candidates.

• Candidate must be able to complete all required certifications and documentation within specified timeframes.
• Facility-specific policies and procedures must be followed.
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification is not listed as required for this specialty.
