MRI Tech Travel/Contract Position

Location: Lexington, Kentucky
Shift: Friday - Sunday, Day shift (3 shifts of 12 hours each, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
Contract Length: 14 weeks

Job Description

• Work primarily Friday through Sunday with no on-call requirements.
• Experience required with Siemens MRI equipment.
• Must have MRI Safety knowledge, including researching implants and adhering to scanning guidelines.
• Experience with anesthesia and pediatric patients is necessary.
• Preferred: 2+ years experience in a Level 1 Trauma Center or teaching facility.
• Epic and PACS experience preferred.
• Local travelers within 75 miles are not accepted.

Required Qualifications

• MRI Technologist with at least 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• ARRT certification in MRI (MR).
• Experience working with pediatric patients.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience preferred in a Level 1 Trauma Center or teaching hospital setting.
• Prior travel experience is not required.

Background and Compliance Requirements

• Comprehensive background checks including county, national, sex offender, and education verifications required within 1 year of start and updated annually.
• Drug testing within 1 year of start, updated annually, with specific panels required (amphetamines, barbiturates, cocaine, cannabinoids, opiates, phencyclidine, benzodiazepines, methadone, propoxyphene).
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by a licensed provider, confirming good health and ability to perform job duties.
• Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (specific acceptable mask types required).
• Immunizations and titers required and must be current or have approved medical/religious exemptions:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines, booster if equivocal/negative)
  • Varicella (positive titer or 2 vaccines, booster if equivocal/negative)
  • Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination renewed annually)
  • Seasonal Flu vaccination/documentation required year-round with exemptions accepted
  • COVID initial vaccine series or approved exemption required; booster preferred but not mandatory

Competency and Skills Verification

• Must complete facility-specific competency exams and skills checklists annually, including:

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (passing score ≥80%)
  • Color Blind Testing
  • Unit-specific competency exams
  • RN Math Ability Competency Exam (if applicable)
  • Pass/Fail EKG exam required for certain units (not applicable here but may be relevant if cross-trained)
• Skills checklists must be current and renewed annually.

References and Employment History

• Two supervisor references required, verified within 6 months of start.
• Employment verification covering the last 7 years required, with explanations for any gaps over 30 days.

• No local travelers within 75 miles accepted for this role.
• No call required.
• Must be able to work in a Level 1 Trauma Center environment.
• Candidates must renew all expiring documents prior to clearance to start or continue assignment.
