Job Description
- Work in a hospital-based infusion center specializing in oncology outpatient care.
- Patient diagnoses include solid tumor cancers, lymphomas, chronic leukemia, iron deficiency, myelodysplastic syndrome, and neuro-oncology.
- Procedures include bone marrow aspirations, intravesicular chemotherapy for bladder cancer, and intrathecal chemotherapy.
- Use specialized equipment such as Cyracom interpreter machine, blood warmer, Hoyer lift, vein finder, and ultrasound-guided IV machine.
- Shift: Day shifts, 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts (variable hours between 8:30 AM - 6:00 PM).
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina.
- Minimum of 1 year of infusion nursing experience within the last year.
- Experience in an outpatient setting.
- Oncology nursing experience.
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) or Oncology Certified Nurse (ONCC) certification.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Certifications & Competencies
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA or ARC certified.
- Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) or Oncology Certified Nurse (ONCC).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
- Pass/Fail EKG/Dysrhythmia competency exam required (minimum 82% to pass).
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (minimum 80% to pass).
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required.
- Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing required.
- Annual skills checklist with a one-week grace period for renewal.
- Color vision testing required.
- Flu seasonal vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season.
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start.
- Immunizations required: Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella with proof of vaccination or positive titer.
- Fit mask test (N95 respirator) completed within the current calendar year and updated annually.
Compliance & Facility Requirements
- Candidate must be flexible with scheduling and adhere to a zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences.
- Compliance documents must be completed by 12 Noon EST the Wednesday prior to the start date.
- Facility-specific documents include health history form, photo for badge (strict photo requirements), dress code review, floating policy, and contractor equipment acknowledgement.
- EPIC test required with 2 attempts allowed; a third attempt may be granted at manager discretion.
- Fingerprinting required only for home health and long-term care positions (not applicable here).
- Workday login and onboarding tasks must be completed prior to arrival.
- Candidates must review and sign facility policies and documents as part of onboarding.
