ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Metairie, Louisiana

Position Details

• Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse
• Location: Metairie, Louisiana
• Employment Type: Travel/Contract
• Shift: Day shift, 4 shifts per 4-week schedule (4 x 12-hour shifts, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
• Hours per Week: 48 hours
• Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Required to care for ICU patients with a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio, occasionally flexing to 1:3.
• Weekend shifts required: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule.
• No call required.
• Floating required: Nurses will float to all ICUs and may float to the Emergency Department (ED) or Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) to care for ICU patients. Occasional float to Medical-Surgical/Progressive Care Units with 1:4 patient ratios.
• Nurses perform lab sticks, EKGs, and line starts.
• Must be able to care for isolation patients, including COVID-19 patients; know your N95 mask size.
• Equipment used includes: Alaris IV Pumps, CADD PCA pumps, Servo I ventilators, Fresenius CRRT Dialysis machines, Edwards Lifesciences cardiac monitors, Medtronic EVD management systems, Arctic Sun TMS, GE monitors, Hill Rom beds, Pyxis medication station, and Veratron bladder scanner.
• Return to Office (RTO) limited to 5 days total.

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Louisiana
• Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, with ICU experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system
• Valid Driver's License
