Job Opportunity: MS/Tele Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Specialty: Medical-Surgical / Telemetry Registered Nurse (MS/Tele RN)
• Shift: 4x12 hour shifts, Days/Nights rotation
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Must be available for some holidays
• Patient Ratio: 1:5 to 1:7 for MedSurg patients
• Unit Size: 26 beds
• Patient Population: CHF patients, acute MI, post device care (pacemakers), arrhythmias
• Floating: Required

Required Experience & Skills

• Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year in specialty
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-time travelers accepted)
• Charting System: EPIC experience required
• Certifications: ACLS and BLS (AHA provider/instructor/RQI accepted)
• Licensure: Must have New York RN license in hand (no exceptions)
• Distance Requirement: Must live more than 75 miles from facility (no locals accepted)

Clinical Skills & Responsibilities

• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response including:

  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Use of Rapid Response and Code teams
• IV therapy and phlebotomy: Peripheral line care/management
• Respiratory care: Nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks, non-invasive airway management
• Adherence to isolation precautions

Required Qualifications & Compliance

• Licensure: New York RN license required and primary source verification within 30 days of start
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS required; others as per unit description (PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM, NIH Stroke Certification may be required)
• Background Checks: 7-year criminal background check, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks required within 3 months of start
• Education Verification: Required from primary source; foreign equivalency evaluation if applicable
• Health Requirements: Must complete health-related requirements and lab work within 5 days of contract signing, including:

  • Physical exam (within 1 year)
  • Fit mask test (annual)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year)
  • Immunizations or titers for Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Drug screening within 30 days of start
  • Flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season
  • Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year
• Other: Medication/pharmacology competency exam, color blindness test, competency exams as required
• Photo: Passport-style photo for badge required

Additional Notes

• Scrub color: Any combination of navy and white
• Floating between units is required
• Candidates must be able to work some holidays and every other weekend
• Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers are accepted

This position is ideal for a Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of MedSurg/Telemetry experience, who holds a current New York RN license and is comfortable working in a fast-paced tertiary care setting with cardiac patients.
