Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Float Pool role covering various ICU and intermediate care units including:
- Medical ICU
- Thoracic Cardiovascular ICU
- Coronary Care Unit
- Surgical Trauma ICU (Level 1)
- Neuro & Neurosurgery ICU
- Critical Care and Intermediate Care Special Pathogens Unit (COVID)
- Thoracic Cardiovascular Intermediate Unit
- Surgical Trauma Intermediate Unit
- Neuro & Neurosurgery Intermediate Unit
- ED Boarders (patients admitted but boarding in ED prior to room assignment)
- Rotating day and night shifts
- Work schedule includes every other weekend and every other holiday
- Ability to offer 36 or 48 hour shifts, with approval for 40 hours for time off
- Must adhere to facility’s float policy
- Epic electronic health record experience required
- Level 1 Trauma experience strongly preferred
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- Other certifications may be required or preferred depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC)
Licensure
- Virginia nursing license required (can submit with VA license pending)
Experience Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse
- Required years of experience: Not explicitly stated; assume minimum 1+ year ICU or critical care experience preferred

Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, education verification, and abuse registry search (for certain units)
- Drug testing: 10-panel including marijuana and fentanyl, within 2 months of start and updated annually
- Health documents:
- Physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands
- Immunizations and titers including Tdap, TB (2-step PPD or Qgold), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, and seasonal flu vaccination (no exemptions allowed)
- Pass/Fail cardiac rhythm assessment required during orientation for adult inpatient RN positions
- Professional appearance guidelines and facility-specific compliance forms must be reviewed and acknowledged
Additional Notes
- References and clinical evaluations may be required for credentialing
- Fit testing required for patient-facing clinical roles, completed onsite if needed
- Some units may require additional certifications or background checks (e.g., Behavioral Health units require CPI certification and fingerprinting)
