Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse
Location: Abilene, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- May be asked to float to other campus or floors; flexibility required
- Must live within 150 miles of the facility
- 3 years of experience preferred (1st time travelers accepted)
- Must be proficient as a circulator
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- AWHONN (Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses)
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of specialty experience preferred
- Prior travel experience not required (1st time travelers accepted)
Compliance and Background Checks
- 7-year background check required within 1 year of start; must be updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- Education verification (highest level) required
- State-specific checks for Texas (DADS Employability Status and Employee Misconduct Registry) required within 30 days of start
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start; must be completed within 72 hours of signing contract
- Fit mask (3M 1860 Regular or 1860S) required; must be updated annually
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray required; must be completed within 72 hours of signing contract
- Immunizations required:
- Rubeola (Measles) - positive titer or 2 vaccines required
- Mumps - positive titer or 2 vaccines required
- Rubella - positive titer or 2 vaccines required
- Hepatitis B - positive titer, series, or declination accepted
- Varicella - positive titer or 2 vaccines required
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31); religious or medical exemptions accepted
- Negative 10-panel drug screen with THC within 10 business days prior to start; no pending results allowed
Competency and Testing
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required as applicable
- Color blind testing required
- Pass/fail testing for telemetry nurses (if applicable) with up to 2 attempts allowed
Additional Requirements
- Must complete various facility-specific documents and acknowledgments prior to start (e.g., vaccination info, TB and occupational exposure, confidentiality, compliance, etc.)
- Must provide 2 references within 3 years of start
- Resume/application required
- Skills checklist updated annually

- Candidate must be flexible to float between units or campuses
- Must live within 150 miles of the facility location
- First-time travelers are accepted; prior travel experience is not mandatory
