Medical Lab Technician

Overview

  • Shift: Nights, 9:00 PM–7:30 AM
  • Schedule: 7 on / 7 off
  • Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
  • On-call: No
  • Floating: Does not float between service lines
  • First-time travelers accepted: Yes
  • Local candidates: Accepted on a case-by-case basis

Required Qualifications

  • Medical Lab Technician (2 years of experience)
  • Medical Lab Technician experience within the last year
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or a relevant medical or scientific discipline
  • Chemistry experience

Preferred Experience

  • Hematology experience
  • Chemistry experience

Schedule Notes

  • Works weekends and holidays
  • Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks

Compliance / Pre-Start Requirements

  • Proof of 2 clinical references
  • Complete application/resume with all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps
  • Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked for the past 7 years
  • Education verification required
  • Primary source verification required for license/certification
  • South Carolina state exclusion list required
  • Annual skills checklist for the applicable unit
  • Annual physical exam
  • Fit test within 90 days before start, then annually
  • 10-panel drug screen within 90 days before start
  • TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days before start
  • Annual TB questionnaire
  • Tdap within 10 years of start, or declination
  • Measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella immunity documentation required
  • Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination required
  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
  • COVID vaccination documentation is highly preferred; declination accepted if not provided
  • Color blind testing required before start
  • Competency exam required
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam required as applicable
  • Orientation modules must be completed before start
  • Badge photo required before start
  • Social Security Card required
  • Driver’s license or state ID required
  • E-Verify attestation required

Additional Notes

  • Hurricane season runs June through November, and travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams during that period
  • RTO must be submitted at time of application and is subject to facility approval
