Unit Description

• Specialty: Surgical Stepdown Unit / PCU
• Shift: Days with 3 weeks of nights
• Hours: 36 or 48 hours per week
• Beds: 24 beds, including intermediate care and unit-based patients
• Patient Types: Surgical, neuro/neurosurgical, trauma, and patients needing higher levels of care between unit level and ICU.

Required Certifications

• ACLS: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (AHA only)
• BLS: Basic Life Support (AHA only)
• PALS: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (AHA only)
• State License Verification: Required

Health Documents

• Physical Exam: Current Health Form/Physical Fitness for Duty signed by a provider within a year of start.
• Fit Mask: Must be updated annually; fit testing required on RGH campus.
• Negative TB or Chest X-Ray: Required within 12 months of start.
• Vaccination Records:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
  • Flu Seasonal Vaccination/Documentation
• Drug Testing: Required within 30 days of start date.

Additional Requirements

• Background Check: Must be no older than 3 months from start date.
• References: Minimum of 2 employment references required.
• Current Resume/CV: Required.
• Education Verification: Academic verification from a third party required.

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New York
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Preferred Qualifications

• COVID-19 Vaccination: Preferred but not required.

Notes

• Local Candidates: Not accepted (must be 75 miles away).
• Fingerprinting: Required for Mental Health and LTC units per facility request.
• Work History Verification: Need to verify at least two past employments.
