NICU Registered Nurse

Overview

Travel/contract role in Newark, New Jersey
Night shift: 3x12 hours, 19:00–7:30
36 hours per week
13-week contract

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in New Jersey
NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care (2 years of experience)
NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care experience within the last year
BLS issued by American Heart Association
NRP issued by American Heart Association
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Experience working with NICU Level 3 patients
Care for neonates with neonatal abstinence syndrome
Respiratory support with HFNC (high-flow nasal cannula)
Management of anti-seizure medications
Phototherapy for hyperbilirubinemia
Enteral feedings and tube placement
Developmental care
Breastfeeding support
Colostomy/ileostomy care
Experience with umbilical line (UAC/UVC) management
Experience with Epic

Clinical Experience

NICU Level III
Neurologic care for neonatal abstinence syndrome
Care for neonates 29–34 weeks and >34 weeks
Blood product administration
IV starts and maintenance
Medication management, including anti-seizure drugs, antibiotics/antivirals, and steroids
Neonatal dosage calculations
Phlebotomy
Cardiovascular monitoring with telemetry
Care for vented/intubated patients
Respiratory support with HFNC and oxygen delivery systems
Management of respiratory distress
Breastfeeding support
Colostomy/ileostomy care
Enteral feedings and tube placement
Glucose monitoring and insulin administration
Hyperbilirubinemia and phototherapy
Developmental care
Patient/family teaching
Infection control, isolation precautions, and sepsis workup

Scheduling and Unit Details

Every other weekend required
Ratios: 1:1–3; 1:4 in IMCU
Navy blue scrubs
