Cath Lab Tech - Travel/Contract
Location: San Diego, California
Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
Shift: Day shift, 4x10 hours (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Position requires a Fluoroscopy permit (can submit application if not in hand but must have it before starting).
- On-call required as needed (approximately 1-2 shifts per week and 1-2 weekends per month).
- Must be available to work weekends with full scheduling flexibility (no fixed weekend schedule).
- Guaranteed hours after call-off policy is met.
- No block scheduling accommodations.
- Locals not accepted.
- Return to Office (RTO) restrictions: maximum 6 days.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Cath Lab Technologist license in California
- Minimum 1 year of Cath Lab Technologist experience within the last year
- Fluoroscopy Permit
- National certifications required:
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association
- ARRT Radiography (ARRT R)
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- ARRT Advanced Certification
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent qualification
Competency & Testing Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (Pediatric focus) with 100% passing score required; two attempts allowed.
- Competency Exam with minimum 80% score required, updated annually. Pediatric-specific versions required.
- Core Part I, II, and III competency exams required and must be updated annually.
- RN Medication Calculation Exam required for all RNs prior to start (not applicable for this Cath Lab Tech role).
- Pass/Fail medication test required for all RNs (not applicable for this role).
Additional Job Details
- First-time travelers accepted.
- Scrub color: Blue.
- Charting systems: Epic and Sensis.
- Parking: Free traveler parking.
- Facility is a Level 1 trauma, teaching hospital with multiple national recognitions.
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Badge photo required (JPEG, neck up, plain background, recent within 3 months).
- Completion and signing of multiple facility-specific forms prior to start, including:
- HIPAA & PHI form
- Meal waiver form
- Professional accountability expectations
- Red Rules acknowledgment
- Code of conduct
- Traveler policy acknowledgment
- Fingernail hygiene policy
- Vehicle registration form (must bring printed copy or complete onsite)
- MCPP training required for Behavioral Health units (not applicable here).
- Background checks and education verifications must be completed prior to start.
Notes
- Candidate must be flexible for weekend and on-call shifts.
- Fluoroscopy permit processing time for CA CRT license is typically 30 days after application submission if ARRT Radiography was obtained after 1/1/2011.
- References and employment history must cover a full 7 years with explanations for gaps over 6 months.
- Drug test panel includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, methamphetamines, morphine (opiates), and oxycodone.
