Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Endoscopy

Location: Abilene, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Registered Nurse needed for Endoscopy with advanced GI procedure experience.
  • Must be able to work 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts, plus call.
  • Assist or circulate during advanced GI procedures such as:
    • ERCP
    • PEG placement
    • EUS
    • Spyglass
    • FNA/FNB
    • Capsule endoscopy
    • Bronchoscopies and EBUS
  • Experience with moderate sedation and pain management preferred.
  • Prior travel experience preferred but not explicitly required.

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only (Instructor, Provider, or RQI acceptable)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only (Instructor, Provider, or RQI acceptable)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA only (Instructor, Provider, or RQI acceptable)

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas.
  • Minimum of 1 year of endoscopy experience, with recent experience within the last year.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID.
  • I9 or attestation.
  • Background check (7-year, including SSN trace, counties, national, OFAC, sex offender; updated annually).
  • Education verification (highest level).
  • State-specific checks including Texas DADS Employability Status and Employee Misconduct Registry.
  • Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen including THC within 10 business days prior to start; facility will conduct additional drug screen on arrival.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing.
  • Fit mask (3M 1860 Regular or 1860S), updated annually.
  • Immunizations and titers or vaccinations for:
    • TB (negative test or chest X-ray)
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
    • Varicella
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Seasonal flu vaccine (required during flu season; exemptions accepted)
  • Pass/fail testing for Telemetry RNs (if applicable).
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam.
  • Color blindness testing.
  • Various facility-specific acknowledgments and forms to be reviewed and signed prior to start.

Additional Information

  • Orientation includes required modules (~3-4 hours).
  • Parking available at orientation and for employment.
  • Must be able to comply with all facility-specific policies and procedures.
  • Candidate must review and sign multiple facility-specific documents prior to start.
