Job Opportunity: X-Ray Tech
Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (Saturday, Sunday, Monday, 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
- Call: Weekly call rotation, 3-4 days per month
- Floating: May float within scope to other buildings on the same campus; no floating to sister facilities
- Work Setting: Primarily outpatient OR; may work in main OR if outpatient OR is not busy
- Daily Caseload: Varies
- Start Date: Approximately 2-3 weeks from offer
Required Qualifications
- Valid Radiology Technologist license in South Carolina
- Minimum 1 year of recent Radiology Technologist experience within the last year
- ARRT (R) certification required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association required
- X-Ray Technician experience
Additional Requirements
- Must comply with a 60-mile radius rule
- Locals accepted at a reduced rate
- Call off policy: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- Background checks including 7-year history and various federal/state registries required
- Education verification and primary source license verification required
- Fit test for N95 mask required within 90 days prior to start and annually thereafter
- Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Immunizations and health documents required, including but not limited to:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B titer or vaccination series or declination form
- Flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption during flu season (Aug-April)
- COVID vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
- Physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands, updated annually
- Passport-style photo for badge required prior to start
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules before starting
- Proof of 2 clinical references and complete employment application with no unaccounted gaps
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam and color blindness test required prior to start
Important Notes
- Hurricane season (June-November) may require assignment to emergency response teams
- Radiation badge processing can take 5-7 days; candidates cannot start floor work without badge
- Facility uses Epic for charting
- Scrub color: Teal top and black bottoms
- Parking: Cost applies only for nights and weekends, with a one-time $20 parking pass fee
This position is ideal for X-Ray Technologists with recent OR and C-arm experience who are flexible to work weekends and holidays, and who can provide their own radiation badge. Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
