Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity

Location: Burlington, Vermont
Specialty: Registered Nurse – High Risk Labor & Delivery (L&D)
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 32 weeks


Job Details

  • Start Date: Must start by January 26 (next available start September 8)
  • Work Hours: 36 hours per week, night shift, every weekend required
  • Schedule: Monday to Sunday, no block schedules allowed
  • Facility Type: Large academic medical center
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years in high risk L&D required; first-time travelers with solid experience considered
  • EPIC Experience: Must have EPIC experience within the past 12 months (non-negotiable)
  • Orientation: Bi-weekly on Mondays
  • Transportation: Reliable personal or rental vehicle required; public transportation not accessible
  • Vehicle Requirements: All-season or snow tires required November through April

Required Certifications & Verifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA certified
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA certified
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA certified
  • State Nursing License verification (primary source within 30 days of start)
  • NURSYS verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP) updated annually
  • Tech Certification verification within 30 days of assignment start
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (annual HIPAA compliance)

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Background Check within 30 days of start covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • Education Verification based on job requirements
  • Vermont Adult and Child Abuse Registry Consent Form
  • Vermont Crime Information Center (VCIC) criminal background check (for Vermont placements)
  • COVID-19 Vaccination Attestation and Questionnaire (must be completed prior to start)
  • Auto Registration Form (time sensitive, must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • N95 Fit Mask Test (updated annually); only approved masks allowed for L&D
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination within 10 years or titer
  • Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within past 12 months; chest X-ray if positive
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B series and titer or signed declination
  • Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved exemption (required during flu season Oct 1 – Mar 31)
  • COVID-19 vaccination or declination
  • Pneumonia vaccination or declination (required if working at NY facility)
  • Drug Testing (required for NY facilities only)

Competency & Skills Verification

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required for all RNs)
  • Color Blind Testing (required)
  • Competency Exam as required by specialty
  • Skills Checklist within 12 months
  • Work History Verification: 2 years of most recent clinical work history
  • Two professional references from assignments within last 3 years

Facility Specific Requirements

  • Passport-style photo for badge (plain light background, no logos/hats/sunglasses)
  • Review of Dress Code and Telephone Usage Policies prior to start
  • Completion of EPIC and Cornerstone training modules prior to start (approx. 8 hours, non-billable)
  • COVID Testing Protocol on Day 1 of work (if deemed necessary)
  • Completion of Emergency Contact Form
  • Hepatitis B and Pneumonia Vaccination Declination forms if applicable
  • NameTag Verification setup
  • Workday Information Attestation

Additional Notes

  • No block scheduling allowed
  • Must explain any employment gaps over 90 days
  • Reliable transportation is critical due to lack of public transit
  • Vehicle must be equipped for winter conditions during Nov-April
