Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse
Location: Anchorage, Alaska
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Assignment Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: ASAP
Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (either 06:45–19:15 or 09:00–21:30)
Guaranteed Hours: 60 hours per 2 weeks (may be called off for 1 shift per 2 weeks)
Weekend Requirement: Yes
Floating: May float to like units within scope if needed
Block Schedule: Not accommodated
Local Candidates: Not accepted (must live at least 50 miles from facility)
First Time Travelers: Not accepted

Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Alaska
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Call and Scheduling
- On-call limited to coverage for call-offs only
- Time off requests approved individually and must be included with submission
Required Documentation and Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Social Security Card (as applicable)
- Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; updated annually
- Education verification required (nursing degree verification mandatory)
- NURSYS license verification required
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates required)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years (declination accepted)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination (positive titer and vaccine series required for Alaska placements)
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
- COVID vaccination record preferred (declinations accepted)
- Drug screen (9 panel) within 12 months
- Respiratory safety clearance required annually for travel candidates
- Fit mask test required annually (travel only)
- References: Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within last 3 years
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years of employment with month/year format for dates
Certifications and Competencies
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification only
- CNOR preferred
- Other certifications (PALS, NRP, Chemo, EFM, IV Certification, CPI, NIH Stroke, MAB) as applicable per unit requirements and clinical track
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Skills checklist required and must be updated annually
Additional Requirements
- Photo for badge (passport style with neutral background) required
- Must complete annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS
- Floating policy acknowledgment required (may be required to float to other nearby facilities)
- Alaska-specific background check application and fingerprinting required
- WA and OR state-specific background and registry checks apply if applicable (not relevant for this Alaska assignment)

- Candidates must have license in hand for auto offer; pending licenses accepted for submission but must be finalized before start
- No block scheduling or local candidates accepted
- Time off requests must be submitted with application
- First time travel nurses are not accepted for this assignment
This position is ideal for experienced Operating Room RNs with Alaska licensure ready to start a 13-week travel contract in Anchorage, working 3 twelve-hour day shifts per week at a Magnet Level II Trauma acute care hospital.
