Operating Room Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract

Location: Grants, New Mexico
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Circulate in the operating room and assist with C-sections
• Average 6-8 OR cases per day with a 1:1 patient-to-provider ratio
• Case mix: 96% GI Endoscopy and EGD, plus Ortho, General Surgery, Podiatry, and OB/GYN cases
• Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM
• On-call every 3rd day and every 3rd weekend (Saturday, Sunday, Monday)
• Must have experience with Cerner EHR system
• Positive attitude and flexibility to stay late if needed

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico
• Minimum of 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Current certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• Experience with Cerner EHR system

Compliance and Background Checks

• 7-year criminal background check covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years, updated annually
• National Sex Offender Registry check
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals

Health and Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year, attesting ability to meet physical demands of the position
• Negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot) or chest X-ray within 1 year
• Immunizations or titers required: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
• 9-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start (instant acceptable)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or documented declination during flu season (October–April)
• COVID-19 medical or religious exemption accepted with facility form

Additional Requirements

• Medication/pharmacology competency exam and unit competency exam as applicable
• Skills checklist updated annually for applicable unit
• Orientation safety manual and HIPAA compliance acknowledgment required

• Operating room setting with a focus on GI Endoscopy and general surgical cases
• Fast-paced with a variety of surgical specialties
• Collaborative team environment requiring flexibility and strong communication skills

This job is ideal for experienced OR Registered Nurses comfortable with circulating, C-sections, and working in a high-volume surgical environment with Cerner EHR.
