Job Details

• Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
• Shift: Night shift options

  • 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
  • or 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Patient ratio: 1:2
• Schedule: 36/48 hours rotation
• Experience with fresh heart transplant patients is required
• Must reside within 75 miles of the facility to be considered

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Kentucky
• Minimum 2 years of CVICU nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Orientation & Start Details

• Orientation occurs bi-weekly
• Start date on job is the start date needed
• Assignment confirmation must be submitted within 24 hours of offer acceptance

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Unexpired government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license or state ID)
• Background check including:

  • National criminal search, sex offender, fugitive, violent offender databases
  • County searches for all counties in last 7 years
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days prior to start
• Education verification
• Annual physical exam or physician’s note within 1 year prior to start, stating clearance to work without restrictions
• Drug test within 30 days prior to start using specified 9-panel Appalachian Regional bundle (no THC) with expanded opiates and oxycodone
• Immunizations and health requirements:

  • Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (must apply within 48 hours of offer acceptance)
  • Negative TB test (QuantiFERON blood test within 1 year; T-Spot/PPD not accepted)
  • TB questionnaire and chest X-ray if TB positive
  • Proof of 2 MMR vaccinations or positive titers for measles, mumps, rubella
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination within 1 year
  • Proof of 2 varicella vaccinations or positive titer
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap valid within 10 years (Td not accepted)
• Fit mask test completed onsite (PAPRs not accommodated; exemptions reviewed onsite)
• Annual competency exams including medication/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG (except Psych, OR, Rehab, Med Surg), and core competencies
• Signed and dated specialty job description (renewed annually)
• Employee health attestation and documentation upload as required by facility protocols
• Skills checklist and work history verification (7 years) required annually
• Two professional references within 1 year of start date (one must be a supervisor; Charge RN acceptable for one reference)

• Candidates must not be submitted to more than one job at a time
• Facility can accommodate latex allergies but requires notification prior to start
• Religious and medical exemption forms available for flu vaccine and fit mask requirements
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
