Registered Nurse - Rehab (Travel/Contract)
Location: Seattle, Washington
Duration: 13 weeks
Start Date: June 22 or June 29
Shift: Days, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
Hours per week: 36
Job Description
- Work primarily with trauma rehabilitation patients:
- Approximately one-third traumatic spinal cord injury
- One-third traumatic brain injury
- One-third stroke patients
- Also care for burn patients and patients with two or more amputations
- Manage ventilator-dependent patients (up to 2 at a time), with goal of weaning off ventilator if possible
- 4 Medical Surgical beds available for acute care patients, prioritizing flap patients
- Patient-to-nurse ratio: 1:3 during day shifts, 1:5 during night shifts
- Required to work every other weekend
- Must work all scheduled shifts; facility cannot accommodate scheduling requests outside approved time off
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington
- Minimum 1 year of rehabilitation nursing experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
Certifications & Competencies
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam with minimum 80% in dosage calculations required
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for certain units (check unit-specific requirements)
- Additional certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (e.g., ACLS, TNCC, NIH Stroke Certification) but not mandatory for this Rehab position
- Pass/fail orientation testing with 80% passing score required
Background & Screening Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check required within 45 days of start, including nationwide, sex offender, and state-specific searches
- Education verification required (diploma or transcript acceptable)
- Drug screening within past 12 months required (instant acceptable)
- WA State WATCH search required
- Photo for badge (professional, waist-up, clear lighting, simple background)
- Various facility-specific forms and acknowledgments must be completed and signed
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year prior to start (not required by facility but required by agency)
- Mask fit test within 12 months of start (3M 1860R, 1860S, or 1870+ masks)
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination on file
- Negative TB test (Qgold, Tspot, or 2-step PPD within 90 days) or chest X-ray if positive TB history
- Annual TB questionnaire required
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: titer or 2 vaccines required; declination allowed with acknowledgment
- Hepatitis B: positive titer or completed vaccine series with re-titer; declination allowed with acknowledgment
- Varicella: titer or 2 vaccines required; declination allowed with acknowledgment
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (Sept 29 - Mar 31)
- COVID vaccination or declination required for tracking purposes
Additional Information
- Facility is a Magnet, Teaching, Level I Trauma center with 500 staffed beds
- Charting system: Epic with hard stops
- Scrub color: any solid color allowed; light blue scrubs provided on unit
- Parking available onsite and offsite with shuttle service (details provided separately)
- Candidates must complete orientation modules prior to start (approx. 2-3 hours)
- Prior travel experience is not required for this position
Scheduling & Work Conditions
- Weekend work required every other weekend
- No on-call duties
- Block scheduling not accommodated
- Local candidates accepted without radius restrictions
