NICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Pinehurst, North Carolina
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Nightshift NICU RN position with ASAP start
- Patient ratio: 1:2
- Floating between units required
- Use of EPIC EMR system
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of NICU nursing experience
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Current North Carolina RN license
- Certifications required at start:
- STABLE (cannot be pending)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Must not reside in Moore County, NC
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID must be carried during work hours
- Background check within 1 year covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including Social Security trace, county, nationwide, national sex offender, and international searches if applicable
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals
- Primary source verification of NC nursing license (NURSYS verification prior to start)
- Color blindness testing required
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Competency exams relevant to NICU specialty
- Physical exam required within 1 year of start (to meet agency standards)
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Tdap within 10 years
- Negative TB test (PPD within 3 months or Qgold/TSPOT within 1 year) updated annually; if positive TB history, clear chest x-ray within 5 years plus annual TB questionnaire
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: positive titer or 2 vaccines required; if no prior records, 2 boosters required (can start with 2nd booster pending)
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season (11/15 - 03/31); exemptions require mask wearing in patient care areas
- 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start, including marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamine, opiates, PCP, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, methadone, MDMA/MDA
- Two clinical references required (one must be from a supervisor or higher; Charge RN acceptable)
- Annual skills checklist and orientation safety manual acknowledgement
Additional Notes
- Modules related to facility orientation and specialty training must be completed prior to start date
- Candidate must be prepared to float to other units as needed
- Facility uses EPIC electronic medical records system
This position is ideal for experienced NICU RNs with prior travel experience who are licensed in North Carolina and ready for a nightshift travel assignment in a critical care neonatal environment.
