Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Orientation
- Bi-weekly on Tuesdays from 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM
- Remaining 2025 Orientation Dates: 8/26, 9/09, 9/23, 10/07, 10/21, 11/04, 11/18, 12/2, 12/16, 12/30
- ER RNs must complete 1 unit orientation shift for each location they choose to work at (Sacred Heart and/or Holy Family)
Scheduling
- Shifts are posted within 12–48 hours of need; no pre-booking available
- Candidates must be flexible and understand the short notice scheduling
Requirements
- Minimum 1.5 years of recent experience (within last 3 years) in ER or relevant specialty
- Certifications:
- BLS (AHA certified)
- ACLS (AHA certified)
- PALS (AHA certified)
- NIH Stroke Certification
- EPIC electronic health record experience required
- Minimum of 2 professional references from supervisors covering at least 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years (Charge RNs acceptable if they directly supervised)
Certifications & Competencies
- Required Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification (required for ICU, ER, Tele/PCU RNs)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- Additional Competencies:
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
- Competency Exams relevant to specialty
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification or exam for applicable units (L&D)
- EPIC: Completion of EPIC training modules is mandatory within one week of orientation

- Charting System: EPIC
- Medication System: Pyxis
Background & Compliance
- Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Must include SSN Trace, Death Master Index, Counties, Nationwide, National Sex Offender, FACIS Level 3, Education Verification, MVR (if applicable)
- Background checks updated annually
- WA State Patrol Search required within 90 days of start and updated every 2 years for certain facility types
- Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- TDAP (within 10 years) or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer or declination
- Hepatitis B vaccination or declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer or declination
- Seasonal Flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season)
- COVID-19 vaccine or declination (required if onsite)
- Fit mask testing required for travel candidates (not required for Per Diem after 5/20/24)
Documentation & Compliance Forms
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years (7 years for APN/Subcontractors)
- Skills checklist updated annually (as applicable)
- Providence-specific float policy acknowledgment (may require floating to other nearby Providence facilities)
- Badge photo (passport style, neutral background) required
- Providence account must be claimed and confirmed prior to orientation
- WorkRamp training modules required prior to start (specific to region and specialty)
- References: minimum 2 supervisor references covering 1 year of employment in specialty within last 3 years
Additional Notes
- Separation policy: 3-month separation required between going staff to per diem or travel assignments
- Candidates must be prepared for rapid scheduling changes and short notice shifts
- Orientation and training are mandatory and scheduled regularly
- Candidates must maintain all certifications and compliance documents current throughout assignment
This position is ideal for experienced ER Registered Nurses who are flexible with scheduling and have strong EPIC experience, current certifications, and the ability to complete required orientation and training modules promptly.
