Physical Therapy Assistant

Overview

• Contract role in Alturas, California
• Monday through Friday, 8-5
• No weekends
• 36 hours per week
• 9-month contract

Role Summary

• Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) providing physical therapy to patients under the direction of a Physical Therapist

Required Qualifications

• Valid Physical Therapy Assistant license in California
• BLS
• Demonstrates safe and effective use of physical therapy modalities including spinal traction, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, diathermy and infrared light
• Demonstrates safe and effective use of physical therapy procedures including therapeutic exercise, soft tissue mobilization, gait training, neuromuscular re-education, orthotic/prosthetic training, taping

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience or special interest in acute care, skilled nursing, and outpatient physical therapy

Schedule and Patient Load

• 1 hour for evaluations
• 45-minute follow-up appointments
• No double booking
• 8–9 patients per day

Responsibilities

• Provide treatment as directed by the primary Physical Therapist
• Observe, evaluate, and document treatment effects
• Maintain organized, legible, timed, and dated patient records
• Maintain patient safety and reduce healthcare-related errors
• Use physical therapy modalities and procedures safely and effectively
• Work collaboratively with patients, families, and staff
• Assist with patient scheduling, front office support, and supply ordering
• Follow the California State Practice Act
