Job Details

• Specialty: Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse
• Location: Fargo, North Dakota
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Evenings, 8 to 10 hour days with rotating call
• Hours per Week: 40 hours
• Call Requirements: 1 to 2 days per week and every 3 to 4 weekends
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:1
• OR Suites: 25 suites, handling 75 to 100 cases per day on average
• Floating: May rarely float to other campuses if needed

Required Qualifications

• Licensure: RN license in North Dakota or Compact RN license
• Certifications: BLS Certification
• Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years recent OR RN experience (higher years supersede any lower mentions)
  • Experience in a large hospital (250+ beds) with Level 1 trauma status
  • Experience working in an acute care facility with 15 or more OR suites (outpatient center experience not accepted)
  • Strong neuro experience focusing on craniotomies and spine cases
  • Strong orthopedic experience for versatility in case handling
  • Experience with general surgical cases including GYN, urology, laparoscopic procedures
  • Experience with robotics, preferably DaVinci system
  • Experience with navigation systems for neuro cases

Job Responsibilities

• Circulating nurse duties including:

  • Documenting and caring for patients in the operative setting
  • Sterile prepping of surgical sites
  • Catheter insertion
  • Opening sterile supplies
  • Positioning patients for surgical procedures
  • Documenting within electronic medical records
  • Setting up and utilizing operating room equipment as directed

Equipment and Systems Used

• Computerized charting modeled after EPIC system
• Accudose medication system
• Cautery devices, lasers
• Laparoscopic and arthroscopy equipment
• Stealth navigation system for neuro cases

Additional Information

• Scrub color provided: Ceil Blue
• All clinicians must badge in and out at the facility
• Candidates living within 60 miles of the facility are not eligible
• Candidates living 60 to 80 miles away may be considered with a reduced local travel rate
• Candidates must disclose if they have previously worked for this employer; if so, their last end date must be at least 6 months prior to submission
