Acute Care G200 RN

Overview

• Role: RN
• Specialty/Unit: Acute Care G200
• Location: Peoria, Illinois
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Nights
• Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
• Schedule: Every other weekend; holidays rotated
• Local placements: Accepted within a 50-mile radius

Required Qualifications

• Active IL RN licensure, or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• BLS certification
• Must produce a negative drug screen for all panels
• Submission requires the last four digits of SSN, middle initial, and requested time off

Unit Details

• 29-bed acute care unit
• Typical census is 22–26, target census 25
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 4–5:1 on days and 5–6:1 on nights
• Unit has private and semi-private rooms
• Common patient types include GI bleeds, sepsis, cellulitis, CHF, COVID, comfort measures, osteomyelitis, falls, DVT, pulmonary embolisms, and post-procedure/surgery returns
• Heparin is the only titrated drip used
• No vents; patients may require up to 6L nasal cannula or stable BiPAP/CPAP at night or as needed
• Telemetry patients are monitored remotely by a house-wide telemetry department
• 24-hour charge RN coverage, with the goal that the charge RN is free of assignment
• 24-hour crisis RN coverage and an administrative supervisor are available as resources
• 24-hour PCT coverage with a 1:10 ratio
• Travel RNs are first to float to other med/surg-like units
• Does not float to ICUs or care for chemo patients
• Staff provide their own scrubs; any color is allowed
• 2 shifts of orientation

Additional Notes

• RNs are expected to attempt IV starts and use unit resources if unsuccessful
• Inpatient phlebotomy is used for blood draws
