RN - Post Partum/Mom Baby

Unit Overview

  • Postpartum / Mom-Baby unit
  • 32 operational beds
  • Night shift: 7P–7A
  • No on-call requirement
  • Floating may include antepartum overflow and L&D recoveries

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Texas
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Post Partum (1 year of experience)
  • Post Partum experience within the last year
  • BLS
  • NRP

Preferred Qualifications

  • Mother-baby charge experience
  • Late-preterm or transitional newborn experience

Common Unit Responsibilities

  • Newborn screenings
  • Blood glucose monitoring
  • Jaundice monitoring
  • Perineal and incision care
  • Feeding support

Work Environment

  • Patient ratio: 1:3 couplets, depending on mix
  • Team-based unit with bedside shift report and hourly rounding
  • Works closely with OB, pediatricians, and lactation support
