Registered Nurse (RN) - Telemetry

Location

• Alexandria, Louisiana

Employment Type

• Travel contract
• Contract length: 13 weeks

Work Schedule

• Night shift: 7 PM – 7 AM
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call duties
• Required to float to other units as needed

Patient Population

• Patients with Myocardial Infarction (MI), Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), Arrhythmias, Peripheral Vascular Disease (PVD), and some medical-surgical overflow

Nurse-to-Patient Ratio

• Typically 5:1, occasionally up to 6:1

Job Summary

• Independently provides routine and complex nursing care in a telemetry setting
• Utilizes nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation
• Addresses psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
• Administers medications and treatments, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
• Provides patient and family education based on assessed learning needs
• Makes appropriate assignments and delegates tasks to other care providers

Required Qualifications

Education

• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Experience

• Minimum 1 year of telemetry nursing experience within the last year

Licenses and Certifications

• Valid RN license in Louisiana
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
• ACLS certification
