Scrub Tech - Operating Room

Location: San Diego, California
Employment Type: Travel - Allied Health (Clinical)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week

Job Summary

Provides specific patient care duties and unit support activities in the operating room suite, ensuring quality care and adherence to safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Anticipate surgical needs and assist during procedures, including dressings and cast applications.
• Follow physician preference cards for case preparation.
• Perform surgical counts (towel clips, Allis, Ednas, instrument trays) and document accurately before patient leaves the room.
• Report any discrepancies or exceptions during counts.
• Update surgeon preference cards as required.
• Comply with all count policies and procedures.
• Take initiative to identify and resolve problems to improve quality of care.
• Fulfill additional responsibilities and participate in departmental tasks beyond routine duties.
• Work additional or different shifts as requested.
• Participate in teaching and submit recommendations for process improvements or cost containment.

Required Qualifications

• Surgical Technologist with a minimum of 3 years of experience.
• Surgical Technologist experience within the last year.
• Current and valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
