Registered Nurse - Critical Care Unit (CCU)
Location: Urbana, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Perform all nursing responsibilities specific to the Critical Care Unit.
- Implement procedures and theories related to critical care nursing.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care.
- Complete initial patient assessments upon admission and develop appropriate plans of care based on patient and family needs.
- Implement and modify plans of care through continuous evaluation.
- Ensure patient and employee safety by identifying and addressing hazards.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Provide constructive feedback to peers and engage in professional development.
- Conduct meaningful hourly rounding, bedside reporting, and use whiteboards to enhance communication.
- Work with ventilated patients to promote early mobility.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Prepare equipment and assist physicians during examinations and treatments.
- Respond to life-saving situations following nursing standards and protocols.
- Monitor and adjust specialized equipment such as cardiac monitors, respirators, ventilators, and oxygen pumps.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant nursing experience, including at least 3 years in Critical Care Unit (CCU) - Coronary Care
- CCU - Coronary Care experience within the last year
- Level 1 Trauma experience
- Experience with trauma patients
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
