Job Summary

Provide safe, competent, quality care to ICU patients based on nursing theory, research, and evidence-based practice. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to manage and evaluate patient care plans.


Key Responsibilities

Patient Care

  • Deliver care using Relationship Centered Care principles and nursing process.
  • Assess and evaluate patient needs; apply critical thinking in care management.
  • Integrate assessment and intervention skills in nursing care delivery.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team on care planning and evaluation.
  • Prioritize patient care including teaching, rounding, coaching, discharge planning, and delegation.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on care plans, health promotion, and disease prevention.
  • Communicate professionally with patients, families, and care team members.
  • Manage assignments within Modified Primary Nursing care delivery model.

Patient Experience

  • Facilitate patient-centered actions such as Admission Welcome, Bedside Shift Report, Purposeful Hourly Rounding, Medication Review, and Discharge Wrap Up.
  • Respect patient values, preferences, cultural diversity, and expressed needs.
  • Establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
  • Use evidence-based practices to understand patient perceptions of care.
  • Address patient/family concerns and escalate as needed.
  • Demonstrate caring, respect, empathy, and active listening.
  • Support staff in evidence-based patient care practices.

Quality and Safety

  • Practice safe, efficient patient-centered care; identify and escalate barriers.
  • Demonstrate clinical skills essential to quality and safety.
  • Implement process improvement strategies and participate in peer/institutional reviews.
  • Collaborate on quality improvement projects, evidence-based activities, and nursing research.
  • Contribute to compliance with quality and safety standards.
  • Apply high reliability principles to avoid high-risk behaviors.
  • Report safety hazards following institutional protocols.
  • Document nursing practice using institutional IT systems to support quality initiatives.

Contract Length

Approximately 13 weeks (89 days rounded to 13 weeks).
