Overview

• Travel RN role in a combined HVI unit with Cardio/General ICU/PCU/MedSurg patients.
• Generalist ICU and PCU experience is accepted.
• This is an ASAP need.
• Contract length: 13 weeks.
• Hours: 48 per week.
• Shift: nights.

Unit Details

• Department: CVU
• 18 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:4, and 1:3 for post-surgical patients in the first 24 hours
• Floating: may float to all same level and lower levels of acuity

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Nebraska
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Cardiac Stepdown experience with 1 year of experience
• Cardiac Stepdown experience within the last year
• CVU - Cardiovascular Unit experience
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience
• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS
• Driver's License
• Ability to titrate cardiac medications including Amio, nitro, nicardipine, epi, cardizem, and blood pressure management medications

Schedule

• Shifts: 0630-1900 and 1830-0700
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend
• Scheduling: manager schedules; no block or self-scheduling

Unit Expectations

• Charge nurse is present on each shift and rarely takes an assignment
• Nurse aides/patient care techs are present at a ratio of 1:18
• Hospitalist and intensivist are in house 24/7; cardiology is on call after hours
• RT is in the ICU 24/7
• RNs must read and interpret tele strips
• Common equipment includes BiPAP, CPAP, and nasal cannula
• Common titratable or set-rate drips include amio, nitro, nicardipine, epi, and cardizem
• Scrub color: navy blue
• Orientation: 1-2 shifts on unit, tailored to needs and experience

Additional Notes

• RTO must be provided upfront; up to 7 days per 13-week contract
• Additional RTO will not be approved after submission
• Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas
