Overview

• Registered Nurse role in Bismarck, North Dakota.
• 13-week contract.
• 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week.
• Day shift.

Unit Details

• MedSurg 3CC RN unit.
• 30 beds.
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: days 1:4-5; nights 1:5-6.

Required Qualifications

• BLS certification.

Preferred Qualifications

• Surgical experience.
• Post-op experience.
• Early ambulation experience.

Clinical Setting

• Common patient types include total joint replacement, spinal surgery, urology procedures, abdominal surgery, bariatrics, and medical overflow.
• Frequent drains and devices include hemo hemovacs, JP drains, occasional heparin drip, PCA pump, and TPN.
• No GYN patients; those go to maternity.
• Cardiac MS Tele patients are mentioned in the unit mix.

Scheduling

• Shifts: 0700-1930 and 1900-0730.
• Manager makes the schedule.
• Day/night rotation will not occur more than weekly.
• Block scheduling may be considered if unit needs are met.
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend.
• Holiday requirement: as needed.

Floating

• May float to medical and telemetry.
• Float support includes assisting with strips and taking medical patients in that area.

Additional Notes

• First-time travelers are accepted.
• RN does not read strips.
• Charge nurse is present on both shifts; nights may occasionally take a low-acuity assignment.
• Bedside shift report is expected.
• Scrubs: any color.
