Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN for a 13-week acute care assignment requiring surgical post-op experience and a ND or compact RN license.

Details

• Acute care Med/Surg unit (3CC) at a Level 2 trauma medical center with 30 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4-5 on days and 1:5-6 on nights
• Patient population includes total joint replacement, spinal surgery, urology, abdominal surgery, bariatrics, and medical overflow cases
• 12-hour day shifts (0700-1930), with occasional day/night rotation not exceeding weekly frequency
• Every other weekend required, plus holidays as needed
• First to float to medical and telemetry units
• Charge nurse present on both shifts, with nights occasionally taking a low-acuity assignment
• Patient care techs available at a 1:12 ratio
• Remote tele packs monitored by dedicated monitor techs; RNs are not required to read strips
• RNs are not required to titrate drips, though occasional heparin drips, PCA pumps, and TPN are present
• Uses EPIC EMR

Requirements

• Active ND state or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Surgical, post-op, and early ambulation experience preferred
• No BSN required
• Candidates must not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) with any CommonSpirit-associated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for surgical and medical overflow patients, including management of hemovacs, JP drains, and colostomies
• Bedside shift report is expected
• Any scrub color permitted
• Close-knit unit with a positive team culture
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility and may not hold concurrent employment with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility
• Upfront RTO must be 7 days or less per 13-week contract, with no additional RTO approved after submission
