Location: Farmington, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Facility & Unit Overview

  • Level III trauma center with 198 beds
  • Endoscopy Department (7 beds) on Main Floor
  • Patient population: Adults with mid to high acuity
  • Patient ratio: 1:2
  • Equipment used: Olympus
  • Electronic Health Record system: Cerner
  • Shift: Days, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
  • Weekly guaranteed hours: 40
  • Weekend and evening call required
  • Possible float to PreOp if Endoscopy caseload is low

Job Description

  • Role: Registered Nurse in Gastroenterology (Pre/Intra/Post Procedure)
  • Number of openings: 3
  • Focus on intraprocedural technical experience in Endoscopy
  • Common procedures: Colonoscopy, EGD, ERCP, Bronchoscopy
  • Procedural Tech experience is required

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 3 years of Endoscopy experience, including experience within the last year
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Proficiency in critical Endoscopy procedures including but not limited to:
    • Biopsy (Hot and Cold)
    • Savary Dilatation
    • Balloon Dilatation
    • Variceal Banding
    • Therapeutic Injection
    • Polyp Raising
    • Tattooing
    • Foreign Body Retrieval (Roth net and Rat tooth)
    • Clip Application
    • Snare (Hot and Cold)

Additional Information

  • Weekend and evening call required
  • Submittal requires resume, submission form, area-specific competency exam, skills checklist, and screening questions
  • Location offers access to outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, and sightseeing in a scenic region with multiple national parks nearby

This position is ideal for experienced Endoscopy RNs seeking a travel assignment in a well-equipped, mid-acuity adult care setting with a focus on advanced gastroenterology procedures.

Pros

Unit is comprised of many travelers. Core staff and travelers have all been fantastic! The unit is set up quite well to manage the surges of patients. It is the only main hospital around so it can definitely provide good experience. Most of the providers I've encountered over the last couple months actually listen to the nurses and are easy to work with.

Cons

It is definitely busy before the size of the town. I can't say I have any other cons.
