Registered Nurse – Cardiovascular Surgery (Travel)

Location: Plantation, Florida
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36

Unit Information

• Unit: Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)
• Number of Beds: 2 Open Heart Surgical Suites
• Staffing: Typically 2 RNs and 2 Techs on day shift; night shift is on-call
• Patient Ratio: 2:1
• Equipment: Open Heart instrumentation, TEE equipment, Ultrasound
• Documentation System: Meditech
• Call Requirements: On-call approximately every other day and every other weekend

Typical Procedures

• Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG)
• Mitral Valve Replacement (MVR)
• Aortic Valve Replacement (AVR)
• Pacemaker procedures
• Laser lead extractions
• Some thoracic and endovascular procedures
• Standby for Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair (TVAR) and mitral clips
• Preference for experience in minimally invasive cardiac procedures

Additional Responsibilities

• May provide lunch relief in other service lines including Vascular, Robotics, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Neuro/Spine, Urology, Podiatry, Thoracic Surgery, and Plastic Surgery
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care before, during, and after surgical procedures
• Ensure sterile procedures are followed throughout surgery
• Ensure necessary equipment and medications are available for the OR team
• Record progress and outcomes of surgical procedures
• Ensure proper handling of specimens
• Maintain quality control and patient safety at all times

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Florida
• Minimum 2 years of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience, with CVOR experience within the last year
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Additional Information

• Scrubs are provided by the facility (OR/CVOR scrub color)
• This is a travel assignment requiring flexibility and ability to function independently in a fast-paced environment
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
