Travel RN Opportunity – MICU Unit, Nashville, TN

Position Details

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 31
• Patient Ratios: Typically 2:1; may vary between 1:1 and 3:1 depending on patient acuity and staffing
• Staffing:

  • Unit secretary staffed during day shifts
  • Occasional nurse externs working as techs
• Equipment Used: Ventilators, External Ventricular Drains (EVDs), Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), Sustained Low-Efficiency Dialysis (SLED), EV 1000 monitoring system
• Documentation System: Meditech

Scheduling & Floating

• Schedule:

  • Minimum of 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week schedule
  • Scheduling done in 4-week increments with some self-scheduling flexibility
  • Manager may adjust shifts to balance the schedule
• Floating Policy:

  • Contract staff float first
  • Expected to float to med/surg units as needed

Required Certifications & Skills

• Active RN license
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ICU experience required

Procedures Performed on Unit

• Central line insertions
• Arterial line insertions
• Lumbar punctures
• Chest tube insertions
• EVD insertions

Dress Code

• Navy scrubs (tops and bottoms) required

Patient Care Expectations

• Provide attentive and compassionate care to patients and their families

This position offers the opportunity to work in a well-equipped MICU with experienced staff and a structured scheduling system that includes some flexibility. The unit uses advanced technology and requires strong critical care skills.
