Job Summary
Seeking an experienced RN to provide care in a Cardiology and Intermediate Care (IMC) unit. This is a night shift position with floating responsibilities to other units as needed.
Unit Information
- Unit Type: Cardiology and IMC (Intermediate Care)
- Number of Beds: 24
- Patient Population: Adult to Geriatric
- Patient Ratios:
- IMC patients: 1 RN to 3-5 patients depending on shift and acuity
- Med/Surg patients: 1 RN to 5-6 patients
- Equipment: Standard Cardiology monitoring (Telemetry, T-1’s), IV pumps, Crash Carts
- Electronic Health Record (EHR): Cerner
Position Details
- Shift: Night (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Weekly Hours: 36 to 48 hours (3 or 4 twelve-hour shifts)
- Weekend Hours: Vary every other week
- Call Requirements: None
- Float Requirements: Yes, may float to PCU, Medical, Surgical, Nephrology units
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New Mexico
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
- Cardiology experience
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association
Preferred Experience
- Strong background in IMC and Cardiac Care
- Experience with common diagnoses such as STEMI, Non-STEMI, Stroke, Post Cath care, and ETOH-related conditions

- No call requirements
- Floating expected to various units based on need
- Patient care involves managing active titrating drips and telemetry monitoring

Pros
Unit is comprised of many travelers. Core staff and travelers have all been fantastic! The unit is set up quite well to manage the surges of patients. It is the only main hospital around so it can definitely provide good experience. Most of the providers I've encountered over the last couple months actually listen to the nurses and are easy to work with.
Cons
It is definitely busy before the size of the town. I can't say I have any other cons.
