Unit & Work Environment

• Unit: 6A Telemetry/Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
• Facility Type: 250-bed Academic Community Hospital
• Trauma Level: Not specified
• Number of Beds on Unit: 36
• Patient Population: All ages
• Patient Ratios:

  • PCU: 1:4
  • Telemetry: 1:6
  • Blended sets: 1:5 (experience required)
• EHR System: Meditech
• Shift: Nights (7 PM – 7 AM)
• Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
• Weekend Hours: As needed
• Call Requirements: As needed
• Float Requirements: Med/Surg, ICU; may require travel within 25-mile radius

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Virginia
• Telemetry experience (minimum 1 year), including experience within the last year
• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience
• ACLS certification
• BLS certification
• Health and Wellness Certification (HWC)
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Clinical Focus & Common Diagnoses

• Common Patient Diagnoses/Treatments:

  • Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
  • Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI)
  • Respiratory Failure
  • Renal Failure
  • Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
  • Atrial Fibrillation (AFib)

Additional Information

• Orientation: Bi-weekly on Tuesdays
• Travel Requirement: Candidates must be located 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify as travel staff
• Drug Screening: Random drug screens on site; completion of Criminal Questionnaire/Consent Form required
• Dress Code: Scrubs of any color allowed; casual wear not permitted
